Course Aims

To consider national identity and how it affects intercultural interaction

To improve your English skills - especially writing, presentation and discussion skills

This class is conducted in English. All lectures and most video and written materials are in English.


Lesson Format

Weeks 1~6: Lecture based on reading passage text ➜ discussions in small groups.

Weeks 7~14: Student presentations + Teacher presentation ➜ discussions in small groups

Group projects: Groups of students choose a country and carry out some research about one cultural aspect of it (see schedule). Each group gives a class presentation on its research and writes a report to be handed in at the end of the course.

Written and video materials will be provided.


Written Assignments

3 essays in English (800~1,000 words) Deadlines: Week 3,  Week 7, Week 15

Group project report (4~8 pages A4). Deadline: Week 15


Grading

Regular attendance is expected. Absence limit = 3 times
