今日は、北海道国立大学機構のボゼック先生とクランキー先生のエピソードを紹介するよ！！
南イリノイ大学のインタビューなどを紹介しているから、みんな覚えているよね！！

2022年4月1日に小樽商科大学、北見工業大学、帯広畜産大学が北海道国立大学機構に統合されたことで、昔クラスメートだった2人が同僚となったよ！
その2人とは・・・北見工業大学の基礎教育系で英語を教えているクリストファー・チップ・ボゼック准教授と小樽商科大学言語センターで英語を教えているショーン・クランキー教授！！

1992年当時、アメリカの南イリノイ大学カーボンデール校で英語教育（EFL）を専攻する修士課程の大学院生だったんだって

そのとき、2人は語学の教員になるために学んでいて、何と同じクラスにいたんだ！
あの頃、いつか同僚になる日がくるなんて、想像もつかなかったよね
それから30年後・・・大学が統合されて、ボゼック先生ととクランキー先生は、北海道国立大学機構の同僚になったんだ！
2人が学んでいたアメリカから、小樽までは約9,685km、北見までは約9,485kmと離れているとかびっくりだよね！！

 

かつて席を並べていたクラスメートと海をまたいで同じ場所で働くなんてレアだよね！！！
北見と小樽も距離的には遠いな～と思っていたけど、ワールドサイズで考えると微々たるものかも・・・！！

Former classmates are now colleagues at Hokkaido Higher Education and Research System

With the merger of Otaru University of Commerce, Kitami Institute of Technology, and Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Science into Hokkaido National University System on April 1, 2022, two former classmates from long ago have now become colleagues.
In 1992, Associate Professor Christopher Chip Bozek, who teaches English in the General Education Department at Kitami Institute of Technology and Professor Shawn Clankie who teaches English in the Gengo Center at Otaru University of Commerce were classmates in the graduate school of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois (USA) where both were pursuing their master’s degree in English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
At that time, both were learning to become language teachers and were even in the same class! Neither could have imagined then, that they would one day become colleagues.
Now 30 years later, with the university merger, Professors Bozek and Clankie are colleagues of Hokkaido Higher Education and Research System.
That’s roughly 9685km (Otaru) or 9485km (Kitami) from where they studied in America.
