OUC Library is open to visitors about reading and loan of its collection.
Everybody could use our materials except those restricted for internal
users.
Loan of materials is basically intended for those who are living in the local district and could come to the Library, but we also offer the home-delivery service for those who could not come on their own because of age, handicap etc.
The lending service of material in OUC library can be received at OUC Station Plaza (“Ekimae Plaza” = an informal name: “Yume Port”) except current members of OUC.
Moreover, if you are living in Otaru, or commuting and going to school in Otaru, you can borrow and return books of OUC library at Otaru City Library (the proper registration is needed).
Please note that our library is composed mainly for students, educators
and researchers who study commerce, business administration, economics
etc.
- Visitors who do not have the Library I.D. Card should follow the prescribed
procedure at the Main counter on 2nd floor first.
- Your identification such as an I.D. Card (university, association, company
etc.), a driver’s license or a health insurance card is necessary for the
procedure.
Any letters of introduction are not required, but students, educators
and researchers of other educational or research institute should write
their affiliations.
- If you need to go to see stacks on the 1st floor, or important library
collections’room, you have to go through the necessary steps, so please
get in touch with OUC Library in advance.
- Visitors who request just reading and copy on the day would be issued
our one-day Library card.
- Visitors who want to use the Library continuously including the loan of materials should follow the procedure of issuing the Library I.D. Card by 15 minutes before closing. You could borrow materials from the day. (You could download an application form for the Library I.D. Card here (pdf).
- I.D. card will be issued the next time you come (after the next weekday).
If you complete the necessary procedures by 5 p.m. on weekdays, you will
get the I.D. card on the day.
- If visitors apply for the issue of I.D. card at OUC Station Plaza (Yume
Port), they will be informed as soon as the I.D. card is ready. Please
get the card at Station Plaza or OUC library.
- Visitors guaranteed by fuculty or staff of OUC would be issued the special reference certificate along with the Library I.D. card (Special users). Certified visitors (Special users) could enter the closed stacks.
- The Library I.D. card and the certificate are valid till the end of the
fiscal year (the end of coming March).
Visitors who want to use the Library continuously should follow the renewal procedure in the next fiscal year.
- About the detailed manner of the Library such as the volume and period
of loan, please refer to this Web site or “Library Guide for users (a leaflet)”,
or you could ask us directly through the Inquiries below.
- For those who could not come to the Library on their own because of age, handicap etc., we offer the home delivery loan service of our materials with postage charged. Please use this service after the user registration as written below.
- For those who could not come, we accept the application via telephone,
FAX, e-mail etc. Please tell us through the Inquiries written below.
According to your application, we send our Library’s “Application form for the Library I.D. card” to your address.
Then please fill in the form and send it to us attaching a photocopy of your identification (application by your substitute is also accepted). We will give you detailed information on the application.
- Those who live further from the local district of Otaru and need our materials
could request them through Inter-Library Loan service. Please ask the nearby
public library.
- The user identification card is needed to show at the entrance system
gate, so please carry your card whenever you enter the second floor open-stack
reading room.
- Some special materials (rare or valuable books, special collections, graduation theses, materials of the history of OUC, micro-forms, etc.) are not open or could not be used during late hours of weekday and in Saturday, Sunday and National holiday. Please ask us beforehand via telephone, e-mail etc. during early hours of weekdays.
- Please understand that the use by members of OUC for education and research
has priority.
- During some period such as the regular examination of OUC (July and February),
the Library tends to be crowded. Visitors might be restricted in such case.
- Please refrain from occupying the place without using the materials of the Library.
- Using mobiles, food and drink are prohibited in the Library. Only in the
Study rooms, PET bottles are permitted.
- You could not enter the campus driving your own car. Please use transport
such as a bus.
- Please follow the regulations of the Library, notices posted in the Library and general manners.
