授業の目的・方法 /Course Objectives and method |
Overall, the course is intended to develop the knowledge and awareness of the field of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). The course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex processes and techniques involved in learning and teaching a second language(L2), especially as it relates to teaching English as a foreign/additional language. We will examine the various L2 teaching methodologies, classroom techniques, and the characteristics of learners in the teaching/learning process. |

達成目標 /Course Goals |
After taking this course, you will be able to: 1) be familiar with the major methodologies and current approaches to teaching EFL; 2) be able to identify and use major techniques and strategies for teaching reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar; 3) be able to select, adapt, and create EFL instructional materials for teaching English in Japan; 4) be able to analyze critically teacher and student classroom behavior; and 5) show an ability to apply understandings of theory and practice to the development of lesson plans. |

事前学修・事後学修 /Preparation and review class |
Class participation is necessary to receive the full benefit of the course. Students are expected to complete the class readings before class and be ready to fully participate in class discussion. All assignments must be submitted on time. Students are encouraged visit the instructor's office during office hours for questions related to the content of the course. |

秀 = 90-100 The student has demonstrated an excellent understanding of the course content and has fully addressed the assigned questions/tasks. 優= 80-89 The student has demonstrated a good understanding of the course content and has addressed most of the assigned questions/tasks. 良 = 70-79 The student has demonstrated a fair understanding of the course content and has addressed the assigned questions/tasks at a satisfactory level. 可 = 60-69 The student has demonstrated some understanding of the course content and has addressed the assigned questions/tasks, but needs some improvements. 不可 = below 60 The student has demonstrated little to no effort and/or poor understanding of the basics of the course content and assignments. |

この授業は面接授業です。数回遠隔で授業を行う可能性もありますが、主に対面で授業を行います。 This is an in-person class. Although there may be a possibility of a few online classes, we will mainly have our class face-to-face. |
