授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
This course aims to improve your English communication skills through:
• Studying print, audio and video advertisements.
• Designing an original advertising campaign to advertise a specific product - making a video commercial and a printed advertisement.
• Learning about and practicing presentation skills in class.
• Writing essays on class topics.

/Course Goals
By the end of this course students will be able to
• Understand and explain the principles, purposes and intentions of advertising.
• Discuss their opinions about the issues concerned with advertising in English.
• Create a small marketing campaign to advertise a product or service of their choice.
• Present their advertising campaign to the class in a persuasive way in English.
授業内容
/Course contents
Weekly Contents
• Checking advertising vocabulary.
• Discussions, presentations, developing persuasion and advertising strategies.
• Homework: reading and writing assignments; preparing project.  

Group Project
• Investigate and analyse an advertising campaign. Present findings to the class.
• Choose a product/service and design an advertising campaign for it.
• Design and make a flier/pamphlet and TV advert for your group's product/ service and give a 20-minute presentation of your campaign.

Written assignments are graded as follows:
• How well the essay answers the essay topic
• English fluency and accuracy
• Persuasiveness of the argument
• How well the essay conforms to academic writing conventions.

Presentations are graded as follows:
• Successful completion of research task.
• English fluency & accuracy
• Organisation of the content (coherence)
• Communication skills - persuasiveness and use of visual aids.
