This course aims to develop English discussion and presentation skills by considering information related to the development and current state of the English language. | ||

By the end of this course students should be able to: a) Explain information in English in class presentations and to partners in small groups. b) Understand the main principles and issues learned throught class materials. c) Carry out 2 research projects on language related themes. |

授業内容 /Course contents |
* Each week, students read information about the development of the English language. This is followed by discussions of the issues using handouts prepared by the teacher. * During the course, students will give 2 formal presentations to their classmates and write up a report on each of those presentations. 成績評価の基準 /Grading Criteria |
Presentations will be graded and feedback will be given to students by the following class. Presentations are graded as follows: * English fluency & accuracy * Organisation of the content (how coherent and coherence) * Presentation skills - persuasiveness and use of visual aids. Written reports will be graded and returned to students by the following class. The reports are graded as follows: * English fluency and accuracy * Persuasiveness of the argument * How well the essay conforms to academic writing conventions. |
