| 授業の目的・方法 ／Course Objectives and method |
This course will introduce students to the field of applied linguistics research from a variety of perspectives. However, the main emphasis is on providing information about how people think about learning and teaching English effectively in and out of the classroom. Major topics include language learning theories, first and second language acquisition, and learner differences. It is a requirement for obtaining credits to give a presentation at the academic conference in Hokkaido on the small research project conducted individually by each student in class, including the content and results of the research. | ||

Develop a basic understanding of Applied Linguistics concepts. Identify and define the different Sub-fields of Applied Linguistics. Discuss some of the theories and principles of language Teaching. Discuss different learning styles and relate them to Second Language Acquisition. Experientially learn the fundamental aspects of shaping a single research project through the preparatory process for the academic conference presentation. |

1) Be sure to work on the assignments based on the contents and references introduced in the class. 2) Be sure to make consistent progress on the small research project each week and thoroughly report and share its content within the class. |

秀（100-90）－応用言語学の基礎を非常によく理解し、授業課題の提出状況及び内容も非常に良好である。議論における論理的一貫性においても、大学院生としては秀逸なレベルの理解と説明ができる。 優（89-80）－応用言語学の基礎をよく理解し、授業課題の提出状況及び内容も良好である。議論における論理的一貫性において、大学院生としては秀逸なレベルの理解と説明ができる。 良（79-70）－応用言語学の基礎をよく理解し、授業課題の提出状況及び内容も過不足のない程度のレベルである。議論における論理的一貫性において、大学院生としては過不足のない程度のレベルの理解と説明ができる。 可（69-60）－応用言語学の基礎を理解し、授業課題もこなした。議論における論理的一貫性において、大学院生として許容できるレベルの理解と説明ができる。 不可（59 以下）－応用言語学の基礎の理解が不十分である。授業課題の提出状況及び内容も心もとないレベルである。議論における論理的一貫性において論理的一貫性においても、問題のあるレベルの理解と説明である。 |

As the final goal is the academic conference presentation, please do not enroll in the course if you are unable to fulfill this requirement. This class will be conducted using both Japanese and English, or either language. |
