授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
<For Glocal Course students>
In principle, Research Paper I (RP1) and Research Paper II (RP2) are offered for students to develop research proposals and complete research papers. In RP1, each student is expected to develop a research proposal by selecting a topic, reviewing relevant literature and discussing methodological approaches to employ. In RP2, each student is expected to complete a research paper by collecting and analyzing data and presenting findings in writing. Nevertheless, the structure and content of RP1&2 are subject to change due to a variety of circumstances including the availability of a particular instructor, an instructor’s specific plan for the courses and the needs of students enrolled. As such, students are strongly encouraged to discuss their plans for Glocal Seminar 3&4 and RP1&2 with their instructors before enrollment.

<For YOUC students>
Research Paper I (RP1) and Research Paper II (RP2) are optional course credits (2 units) obtained by students who take Glocal Seminar III (GS3) and IV (GS4), respectively, by satisfying the requirement for the RP1 and 2. Students who enroll in GS3 can register for the RP1. Students who enroll in GS4 can register for the RP2 and are expected to write an individual research paper under the guidance of the GS4 instructor by the end of the semester.
達成目標
/Course Goals
The goals of RP1 and RP2 are to develop skills to write individual academic research papers.
授業内容
/Course contents
Four instructors are in charge of RP1 and RP2: Profs. Ikeda, Matsumoto, Kobayashi and Wang. They give instructions on RP1 and RP2 to students who register for them. Please note that their availability may change from one semester to another, and therefore students are encouraged to check in with a relevant instructor before enrollment. Generally, the content covers the structure and style of academic papers, citations, literature reviews, descriptions of data, methodologies, and analytic outcomes, and tips to write the introduction and conclusion sections. However, the instruction content could differ student by student depending on their research theme and degree of progress.
