授業の目的・方法 /Course Objectives and method |
topics: Linguistics, especially formal semantics and social choice theory Linguistics, the study of natural languages, has several subfields. One of them of the study of the grammatical meaning of languages, which is called semantics. The research in this seminar centralizes `formal' semantics, with logical, philosophical, mathematical or computational methodologies. The formal approach also includes the application of the social choice theory in economics. |

While writing a research paper is a final goal, international communication plays an important role in the seminar. Students will communicate in English during seminars. | ||
授業内容 /Course contents |
In our seminar, students select and read an introductory book written in English during spring vacation, and give oral presentations on the book reviews in April. After the book reviews, students may conduct their own research and/or read a textbook together. | ||

The members are encouraged to attend one of the following summer schools on their own expense: -35th European Summer School in Logic, Language and Information (ESSLLI) in Belgium, July 29-August 9. |
