Course Objectives: This course is designed with two primary objectives at its core: 1. Enhance Reading Comprehension: Students will improve their ability to quickly understand and interpret English texts, learning strategies to grasp complex ideas and subtle meanings. 2. Develop Logical Explanations: Students will learn to not only find correct answers but also clearly explain their reasoning, using evidence and critical thinking to form coherent arguments. Course Methods: To achieve these objectives, the course employs a variety of interactive and reflective methods: 1. Strategic Reading Practices: Incorporating activities like skimming, scanning, and critical reading exercises to improve speed and depth of comprehension. 2. Interactive Discussions: Utilizing class discussions and debates to practice articulating and defending arguments, fostering critical engagement and logical reasoning. 3. Peer Review Sessions: Through structured peer review activities, students will offer and receive constructive feedback on their written work. 4. Reflective Writing Assignments: Assignments focused on drafting, revising, and reflecting on written responses to develop clear and logical explanatory skills. |

Your final grade will be based on the total score: A(秀): 100-90 Excellent performance on the requirements of the class B(優): 89-80 Good performance on the requirements of the class C(良): 79-70 Acceptable performance on the requirements of the class D(可): 69-60 Minimally acceptable performance on the requirements of the class F(不可): 59-0 Unacceptable performance on the requirements of the class *You will automatically fail the course if you are absent 6 or more times. |

1. Language of Instruction: This course will be conducted entirely in English. Students must use English for all communications during class. 2. Attendance and Participation: We will use the 'respon' app for tracking attendance and submitting answers. Please bring a device that can access this app. 3. Absences: If you are unable to attend class due to unavoidable circumstances, inform me at your earliest convenience. Such absences will not impact your grade. 4. Classroom Conduct and Expectations: Students are expected to: • Respect other students' opinions and ideas during group discussions and debates. • Participate actively in class discussions, ask questions, and express opinions in English. • Read assigned texts, answer designated questions, and come prepared for in-class discussions and activities. • Complete all assignments on time and participate in all class activities. 5. About Using AI Tools: • You may use AI tools to help understand the course materials, explore different ways to express concepts, and receive language support. • However, using AI to complete entire reports is prohibited. All work submitted must be personally crafted by you. Not following this rule could lower your grade or cause you to fail the course. 6. Rules on Translating: • Utilizing AI tools and translation services to translate materials during the preparation phase and in-class activities is forbidden. • Translation tools are permitted solely for the purpose of reviewing materials. |
