授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
This course aims at improving reading and listening skills and acquiring essential test-taking strategies to help students raise their TOEIC test scores.

Students will practice key vocabulary, grammar, and strategies for reading and listening using the course textbook. While this course mainly focuses on reading and listening, students will have opportunities to speak and write in English.

Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
• Recognise more words and phrases that are commonly used in the TOEIC test
• Improve reading and listening comprehension skills
• Employ essential test-taking strategies in the TOEIC test effectively

/Preparation and review class
There will be pre-lesson tasks (homework) for every class. It is important to come to class prepared so that learning is effective. Please check manaba frequently and keep yourselves up to date with the latest information on homework and assignments.

Students are expected to review the materials covered in class. Language learning is a cumulative process and requires regular revisions and practices.

成績評価の方法
/Grading
Your final grade is based on outcomes of the following assessments:
• Active class participation (e.g., homework completion, engagement in learning activities in class, volunteering answers) - 10%
• Assignments (vocabulary flash cards and examples) - 10%
• In class mini tests (vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening 8 % x 5) - 40%
• TOEIC IP test (score 0-445  0-59; 450-49560-69; 500-54570-79; 550-59580-89; 600 and more 90-100) - 40%
成績評価の基準
/Grading Criteria
A (Excellent): 100 - 90
B (Very good): 89 - 80
C (Good): 79 - 70
D (Satisfactory): 69 - 60
F (Unsatisfactory): 59 – 0
履修上の注意事項
/Remarks
 All classes will be held face-to-face on campus unless otherwise instructed. However, in some classes, students may need to use a computer for online practice.  
 English is the medium of instruction in this class, but Japanese may be used if necessary.  
 Students are required to attend at least two thirds of classes to pass the course. In the event of absence from a class, e-mail the teacher with the date of the class and explain the reason for missing the class. It is the students’ responsibility to catch up with the missed class.
 Students will receive zero mark for an in-class test if they are absent without notifying the teacher in advance.  
 Please note that any assignment that is late is subject to a 10% deduction off the mark per day. It is the students’ responsibility to submit the assignment properly on time.
