The purpose of this lesson is to help students improve their academic skills in order to prepare students for participation in real-life academic and professional contexts. This class provides a stimulating, content-based approach that helps students develop their reading, listening, thinking, and English discussion skills, while studying relevant topics. | ||

Students can listen to the academic lecture and can learn the vocabulary related to each topic covered and develop reading, listening and English discussion skills. Students aim to review, discuss and summarize the points mentioned in the lecture of each unit. | ||

Grades will be based on the following: Vocabulary Quiz [10%] Reflection on language use [10%] Assignments for Group Discussion [20%] Review Questions (Quiz to check your understanding) [10%] Review Questions (Unit summary) [15%] Discussion Report [25%] Examination[10%] *Assignments submitted through writing will be graded on Fluency, Accuracy, and Content (3 points each). |

履修上の注意事項 /Remarks |
-This class will be conducted entirely in English. -Students will be required to communicate in English in the classroom. -Students have to submit a recording of their discussion once in two weeks. If you are absent, please submit both an absence report(欠席届) and supporting documents such as a medical certificate(診断書). Even with submission, the absence will still be treated as such, but by providing both of the aforementioned documents, you will be allowed the submission assignments related to the missed week's classes and reflect them in your grades. Note that the requirement for attendance of at least two-thirds remains unchanged, so please be mindful of that. Also, for appointments (e.g., dermatology) that do not overlap with class hours, we do not approve the aforementioned arrangement, so please keep this in mind as well. |
