授業の目的・方法 /Course Objectives and method |
To prepare students with (corpus based) vocabulary and grammar in key academic areas with an emphasis on communication through listening and speaking. Method: Classroom practice is similar for each unit - Each unit begins with a topic question that sets the theme of the lesson. The course then proceeds through several listening activities that expand the theme stage by stage. The skills aspect includes note-taking and critical thinking tasks. While the input is through multiple listening tasks, each different in kind, they are punctuated with small controlled speaking tasks. The second half of the unit emphasizes a number of speaking tasks around vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and finally interviews. In some cases there will be time for presentations. Finally, a unit quiz based on all of the aspects covered in the unit. |
