授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
This course aims to improve your English communication skills through:
- Examining English language advertisements;
- Learning about and practicing presentation skills in class
- Writing essays on class topics
- Group projects - Making an Advertising Campaign - making a TV commercial, a radio advert and a flier to advertise a product. During the course each group gives two class presentations.

/Course Goals
Weekly Contents
- Learning about the aims, history and process of advertising.
- Pair and group discussions in English, developing persuasion and advertising strategies.
- Class presentations.
- Homework: reading and writing assignments; preparing group project.  

Group Project
- Choose a product or service and design an advertising campaign for it.
Investigate and analyse the advertising campaign of a similar product/service   to the one your group has chosen. Present your findings to the class (June).
- Design and make a flier/pamphlet and a TV advert for your group's product/service and give a 15 minute presentation of your campaign (July).

Weekly Vocabulary Tests:  10%
Presentation 1 & Report:  20%
Presentation 2 & Report:  30%
Weekly writing assignments:  40%

* The absence limit for this course is 3 classes.
成績評価の基準
/Grading Criteria
Written assignments are graded as follows:
* How well the essay answers the essay topic
* English fluency and accuracy
* Persuasiveness of the argument
* How well the essay conforms to academic writing conventions.

Presentations are graded as follows:
* Successful completion of research task.
* English fluency & accuracy
* Organisation of the content (how coherent and coherence)
* Presentation skills - persuasiveness and use of visual aids.

/Remarks
* This class is most suited to second year students and above with good English skills. Any first year student who wishes to join the course should talk to the instructor directly before signing up.

* All classes will be carried out face to face on campus (対面授業)

* The medium of instruction of this course is English.
