授業の目的・方法 /Course Objectives and method |
The goal of this class to develop an appreciation for reading short-stories in English. The class will focus on literary features to sure students understand the stories correctly. Feedback will address misunderstandings. Students will be encouraged to make important connections between each story and their own lives and understand things from a cultural point of view. Students will be encouraged to make their own responses public. | ||

Students will be able to recognise settings, plots, the complexity of characters: emotional, rational, moral, and relate the stories to their own lives. Students will recognise literary features and learn to write appropriate responses. | ||

成績評価の基準 /Grading Criteria |
Students will need to write papers in many of the classes of approximately 200 or more words. The papers should address specifically three things: astonishment (relating to the students' emotional response), significance (relating to the author's purpose), and position (key assumptions that have been challenged). Emphasis will not be put on grammar accuracy unless the grammar detracts from the report in significant ways. | ||
