授業の目的・方法 /Course Objectives and method |
The main goal of the class is to further develop reading skills and strategies for navigating academic texts. The course seeks to boost vocabulary and understand words in context. By the end of the course students will have become familiar with academic texts and will have learned how to identify main ideas and the writers' conclusions. Students will sharpen their scanning skills - the ability to quickly find important information and to understand the overall meaning of a text or article. In addition, they will learn how to summarize such findings in their own words. |
||
達成目標 /Course Goals |
Except for test and review lessons, every week the instructor will expect students to: 1. Read articles in English. 2. Study key vocabulary. 3. Think critically about what is written. The ultimate goal is to improve English by not just solitary study, but by cooperating with other students to clarify the meaning - all in English. |
