授業の目的・方法 /Course Objectives and method |
History of the English Language and English Literature In this seminar we will study the history of the English language from Old, Middle, Modern to Present-Day English to understand the significant changes and the impact that they had on the development of the English language. We also read poems (and/or short stories) representing each period and closely analyse the language and the meaning of the literary works in order to appreciate the depth and subtlety of the English language. As part of seminar activities, seminar students will participate in debate competitions with other seminar groups. English debates and Japanese debates take place several times throughout the academic year. |
